PHOENIX – Snell & Wilmer’s Phoenix partner and Veterans Heritage Project board member Eric H. Spencer was honored at the organization’s annual Book Signing event over the weekend. Spencer’s combat story was featured in the 20th annual edition of Since You Asked, a book that memorializes interviews of veterans by high school students. The book will be sent to the Library of Congress for historic preservation.

Founded in 1998 by teacher Barbara Hatch after one of her students asked her if the movie Saving Private Ryan was a true story, Veterans Heritage Project aims to connect students with veterans with the goal of honoring veterans, preserving U.S. heritage, and developing future leaders. In the last 25 years, over 56,500 students have been impacted by the program through civic education, as well as building the students' communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Spencer's practice is concentrated in special litigation and compliance with an emphasis in election law, campaign finance, public policy and government relations. He is deeply experienced in election-related litigation and appellate matters before state and federal courts and agencies. Spencer regularly advises candidates, consultants, lobbyists, political action committees (PACs), ballot measure and independent expenditure committees, political parties, municipalities, corporations, election-related vendors, trade associations and other tax-exempt organizations, and individual donors and political contributors. He advises on campaign finance compliance and reporting and handles complaints before the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Arizona Secretary of State’s office, Citizens Clean Elections Commission, and various local jurisdictions. Spencer served as a Captain in the Arizona Army National Guard, as well as an Infantry Platoon Leader with the U.S. Army, 4th Infantry Division, and was deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
