Experienced Public Utilities Attorney Shawane L. Lee Joins Snell & Wilmer as Partner
PHOENIX – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to welcome experienced public utilities attorney Shawane L. Lee* to the firm. “We are very pleased to have Shawane join our team,” said Firm Chair, Barbara J. Dawson. “Her extensive background in the energy industry and as regulatory counsel will serve our clients well.”
Lee represents public utilities and other companies in matters before governmental and regulatory agencies, including the California Public Utility Commission and Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. With over 12 years of experience as in-house counsel and 6 years of experience as a litigator, Lee leverages her extensive industry knowledge to provide clients creative, strategic, and comprehensive regulatory law and litigation representation. An experienced regulatory lawyer, Lee handles a variety of regulatory cases including rate cases, customer complaint cases, public utility commission proceedings, application filings, tariff filings, complex customer billing and tariff analysis, regulatory compliance, smart meter litigation, low-income energy assistance programs, compliance audits, regulatory risk, on behalf of utilities and major corporations.
Prior to joining Snell & Wilmer, Lee served as in-house counsel for Southern California Gas Company, the nation’s largest natural gas distribution utility and PECO Energy Company, Pennsylvania ’s largest electric and natural gas utility. Lee advised company leadership and stakeholders through a wide range of subject matters, including climate change adaptation, emergency disaster relief, tribal affairs, COVID-19 pandemic regulatory requirements, customer complaint cases, and policy implications associated with electric and gas utilities. Lee has participated as first chair counsel in numerous California Public Utility Commission and Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission proceedings including rate cases, formal complaints, rulemakings, and policy dockets.
*Lee is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. She is not admitted to practice in Arizona.
