Phoenix Snell & Wilmer Attorney Greg Gautam Joins Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital Philanthropic Council
PHOENIX – Snell & Wilmer Phoenix partner Greg Gautam has been selected to a two-year term as a Philanthropic Council member with the Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. In this capacity, Gautam will advocate, fundraise, and raise awareness of BNI’s impact in the region and beyond.
For Greg, this Advisory Board role is personal. In summer of 2019, Greg’s son was diagnosed with medically intractable epilepsy, commonly known as drug-resistant epilepsy, meaning it is not able to be controlled by medication. After trying to control his son’s condition with medications for many years, in the summer of 2024 Greg’s son underwent surgery to remove a lesion from his brain. After 22 days in the hospital and a few months of outpatient physical and occupational therapy, Greg’s son is in school full-time and, most importantly, is seizure-free. The team at Phoenix Children’s has told Greg and his family that being seizure-free in the short term is a good indicator that his son will remain seizure-free in the long term. Greg and his entire family are so thankful to the entire team at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, particularly, Jason Hauptman, MD, PHD, Angus Wilfong, MD, and Raj Singhal, MD.
Phoenix Children’s Hospital has focused on specialized pediatric care since its founding in 1983, making it the only independent hospital in Arizona devoted exclusively to meeting children’s medical needs. In 2023, Phoenix Children’s served over 200,000 children from throughout Arizona, 48 U.S. states, and nine countries. As part of Phoenix Children’s, the Barrow Neurological Institute is the largest pediatric neuroscience center in the Southwest and is consistently ranked as a top children’s specialty by U.S. News and World Report, as well as a top treatment center for epilepsy (Level 4 National Association of Epilepsy Centers accreditation), neurotrauma, neuro-critical care, neuro-oncology, and neuro rehabilitation.
Greg is a transactional partner that focuses his practice on various areas of employee benefits, including the design of executive compensation programs, qualified retirement plans, and health and welfare plans. A significant portion of Gautam’s time is spent advising clients on the benefits and compensation issues that arise in a wide array of complex corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, private equity and venture capital transactions, equity and debt financing, and recapitalizations. In addition, Gautam is recognized by Best Lawyers in America ® in the areas of Employment Law – Management and Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law, Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business® in the area of Employee Benefits, as a Southwest Super Lawyers® in the area of Employee Benefits, as well as by Phoenix Business Journal as a 40 Under 40 honoree.
