Snell & Wilmer Associate Vivienne Chen Elected to Asian Pacific Community Fund Board of Directors

ORANGE COUNTY – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Orange County Associate, Vivienne Chen, has been elected to serve on the board of directors for the Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF). APCF’s mission is to cultivate philanthropists to invest in organizations that empower underserved Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities to prosper by increasing philanthropy among AANHPI individuals and sustaining and growing the AANHPI nonprofit sector.

APCF was founded in 1990 by AAPI community leaders in response to the need for alternative funding for Los Angeles-based nonprofit organizations serving AAPI communities. Prior to its incorporation, less than 0.3% of all local foundation funds went to AAPI agencies, according to a 1988 study by AAPI Equality Alliance (formerly known as A3PCON – Asian Pacific Policy & Planning Council). To raise funds for community organizations serving AAPI communities, APCF initiated employee giving campaigns at various workplaces, including private companies, federal agencies, state agencies, county agencies, city agencies, and nonprofit organizations.

In the past decade, APCF has diversified its fundraising efforts by developing other avenues for giving. With the growth of donor-advised funds, giving circles, grant making, and scholarship funds, APCF has been able to cultivate philanthropy among AAPIs while providing multiple vehicles for donors to support the community.

APCF has increased its capacity building initiatives for AAPI serving nonprofits in Los Angeles to all 10 counties in Southern California. From humble beginnings of 12 nonprofits, APCF now has a network of over 80 nonprofits.

“I am honored to join the Board of Directors of the Asian Pacific Community Fund and support its mission of empowering AAPI communities through philanthropy and resource development,” said Chen. “APCF plays a critical role in fostering opportunities for underserved individuals and families, and I look forward to collaborating with my fellow board members to advance initiatives that drive meaningful change.”

Chen is a member of the firm’s real estate practice group, and her practice involves a broad range of real estate transactions, including acquisitions and disposition, real estate development, and commercial leasing of all types. She represents local, regional, and national homebuilders, commercial developers, financial institutions, purchasers and sellers, as well as landlords and tenants, across various property types, such as office, retail, hotel and other income producing property. Chen also assists clients with title and survey work and matters relating to commercial development, office and retail leasing, developing, owning, operating, and leasing real estate. In conjunction with her practice, Chen is a member of Snell & Wilmer’s Community Involvement Committee and enjoys working with local nonprofit and community-based organizations. She is also a co-lead of the firm’s Lawyers of Color (LOC) affinity group and an active member of the firm’s Hiring Committee.
