Snell & Wilmer Attorney Gil Kahn Selected as a Lawyer Representative for the District of Nevada
LAS VEGAS – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that associate Gil Kahn has been selected as a new Lawyer Representative for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada, by the Court’s Judges and the State Bar of Nevada Board of Governors.
Lawyer representatives for the United States District Court, District of Nevada assist the Court with improving the administration of justice. They provide vital input to the Court on a myriad of issues affecting the operations of the federal courts, including but not limited to rule changes; development of new programs; planning of conferences; and the expenditure of funds from the non-appropriated account. Lawyer representatives also assist with educating members of the Bar about conferences and obtaining feedback for future conferences; promoting and judging the Ninth Circuit high school civics contest and local civics outreach; and finding ways to improve the general dialogue between the Court and Bar to make improvements in the judicial system.
As part of this new role, Kahn has been invited to join the District’s Civil Rules Committee, which is responsible for reviewing and, potentially, revising the Court’s local civil rules.
“Having spent the first three, formative years of my legal career as a federal law clerk, I am honored to have this opportunity to serve our District and represent my fellow practitioners,” said Kahn.
Kahn is an associate in Snell & Wilmer’s commercial-litigation and appellate-practice groups. Prior to joining Snell & Wilmer, he was a Judicial Law Clerk for the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada for The Honorable Jennifer A. Dorsey and The Honorable Larry R. Hicks. He also served as a Judicial Law Clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit for The Honorable Jay S. Bybee. In his appellate practice, Kahn has represented clients in complex appeals before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and multiple state appellate courts.
In his litigation practice, Kahn assists clients in a variety of areas, ranging from business disputes, shareholder litigation, tribal law, constitutional claims, defamation/business disparagement, and debt collection including the recovery of collateral through repossession.
