Snell & Wilmer Partner Douglas Thompson Recognized as a 2025 Banking & Finance Visionary by the L.A. Times

LOS ANGELES – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that partner Douglas A. Thompson been recognized as a “2025 Banking & Finance Visionary” by the Los Angeles Times’ Business by LA Times Studios, earning this distinction for the second consecutive year. According to the publication, this award honors top leaders working in the banking and finance industry, as well as leaders working as professional services advisors to the industry, for their achievements

With decades of experience, Thompson defends class action litigation matters and represents financial institutions and businesses in regulatory investigations. He has handled more than 250 putative class actions and collaborates with clients to mitigate regulatory and litigation risks while championing inclusion, innovation, and thought leadership initiatives. Thompson’s work includes defending claims under federal banking and consumer lending laws, such as the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), and Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA). He also handles banking deposit operations claims, including those involving Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance, ACH and wire transfer frauds, business email compromise (BEC), privacy contract claims, and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) related issues.

Beyond his legal practice, Thompson authors client alerts and presents on topics like ESG sustainability disclosures and financial services litigation developments. He serves on Snell & Wilmer’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee and the Pro Bono Committee, frequently collaborating with clients on pro bono services. Thompson is actively involved in the Los Angeles community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, as a Foundation Trustee for the US Olympic and Paralympic Foundation, and as an Advisory Board Member for Harlem Lacrosse.

Thompson earned his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law and his B.A. from Tufts University.
