Snell & Wilmer Partner Matthew P. Feeney Honored with 2024 Walter E. Craig Distinguished Services Award

PHOENIX – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Phoenix-based Partner Matthew P. Feeney has been named the recipient of this year’s Walter E. Craig Distinguished Services Award from the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education. 

The annual award is given to an attorney who has manifested adherence to the highest principles and tradition of the legal profession and service to the public in the community in which they live. Feeney will be recognized during the Arizona Bar Foundation’s annual awards luncheon on June 13, 2024.

The Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education is an organization created by the State Bar of Arizona to promote access to justice for all Arizonans, by preparing Arizona youth for civic responsibility and providing access to justice for Arizonans most in need. With the help of lawyers & judges, the courts, legal aid agencies, schools, teachers, probation officers, state agencies, other philanthropic entities, local businesses, and national groups, the Foundation aids with civic education, legal aid services and advocacy for equal access to the justice system for Arizona.  

An advocate for his community, Feeney is involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations, including having previously served as President of the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education. Feeney is a founding Board Member and former Chair of St. Joseph the Worker, an organization that provides job development services to assist homeless, low-income, and other disadvantaged individuals. He serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of The Sandra Day O’Connor Institute for American Democracy, an organization dedicated to continuing the legacy of Justice O’Connor and advancing American democracy through multigenerational civics education, civil discourse, and civic engagement. He also chairs the Arizona Equal Justice Foundation, which is dedicated to funding access to justice initiatives. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Valley of the Sun United Way and the Phoenix Symphony.  Within Snell & Wilmer, Feeney played an integral role in developing a formal pro bono policy that is in place today and encourages all firm attorneys to give back to their communities.

In his legal practice, Feeney focuses in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, SEC reporting and compliance, and corporate governance matters, including advising corporate boards and board committees.
