Snell & Wilmer Mourns the Passing of Partner David Rogers
PHOENIX – Snell & Wilmer mourns the loss of Partner David Rogers, who unexpectedly passed away recently.
“We are deeply saddened to share the news of the sudden loss of our esteemed colleague and friend. Dave was a brilliant lawyer, highly respected both within our firm and the legal community. His thoughtfulness, empathy, and unwavering dedication to his clients and the practice of law were unparalleled,” said Barbara Dawson, firm chair.
Dave, who joined Snell & Wilmer in 2011, was a partner in the Intellectual Property (IP) Practice Group. He had extensive experience in IP law, including technology litigation. Over the course of his career, Dave handled hundreds of trademark/tradename disputes and numerous litigation matters. He was an avid writer, authoring two books on patent and trademark law and numerous articles on IP law, and his insightful legal commentary was sought out by prominent news publications ranging from Forbes to the Boston Globe. With his distinguished experience, he was a featured speaker on U.S. and international intellectual property law at seminars around the world and a guest lecturer on IP law topics at Arizona State University.
Prior to attending law school, Dave worked for over 11 years in industry, holding positions as a manufacturing manager at Procter & Gamble Co., a marketing and sales manager at Schlegel Corporation, and as an independent manufacturers’ representative for the Gemroi Company. He had extensive experience in many technologies including: complex machinery, semiconductor design and manufacturing, mechanical and chemical manufacturing processes, mechanical and medical devices, payment devices (including credit cards) and systems, specialty chemicals, building materials, software methods, and firearm accessories.
Dave was consistently recognized for Intellectual Property Litigation by The Best Lawyers in America® (2016-2024), Southwest Super Lawyers® (2014-2021), and Managing Intellectual Property Magazine (2014-2019, 2022, 2023). He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University, his M.B.A from the University of Rochester, and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University and was a notable member of the Order of the Coif.
He is survived by his wife Angela and daughter Amanda.
