Legal Alert: Federal Contractors Must Notify Employees of Their Rights Under Federal Labor Laws
Starting June 19, 2010, federal contractors and subcontractors must notify employees about their rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) by posting an employee notice conspicuously in and around their plants and offices so that it is prominent and readily seen by employees. In particular, contractors and subcontractors must post the notice where other notices to employees about their jobs are posted. Executive Order 13496; 29 C.F.R. Part 471. The NLRA is the primary law that limits the means with which employers may react to workers in the private sector that create labor unions, engage in collective bargaining, and take part in strikes and other forms of concerted activity in support of their demands.
