Legal Alert: School Disciplinary Client Update
School Disciplinary Client Update
By Ahron D. Cohen and Robert H. Feinberg
Do you have a child in public school? If so, you as a parent must be aware of the legal consequences resulting from school discipline. Students are not subject merely to school discipline for their bad behavior on school grounds, such as detention or writing “I’m sorry” on the white board. Rather, a student’s actions in school may subject him or her to criminal punishment! With the increase of technology devices in the hands of students while at school, students have a wide array of actions they can do to bring about punishment (e.g., “sexting” or posting inappropriate comments on Facebook and Twitter).
