Legal Alert – Utah Tax Credit Extended to Solar Energy Systems

With a rebounding solar energy manufacturing sector and increasingly aggressive Renewable Portfolio Standards throughout the western United States, many predict the reemergence of commercial solar power development in 2014. To spur solar power development in Utah, Governor Gary Herbert signed Senate Bill 224 into law on April 1, 2014. SB 224 amends Utah Code, Title 59, Chapter 7 to extend renewable energy tax credits provisioned under Section 614 to commercial energy systems using solar equipment.
