New Year, New Patent and Trademark Fees: A Summary of Fee Changes Effective in January 2025
In November, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced updates to both trademark and patent fee schedules that go into effect in January 2025. The updated fees include increases in certain pre-existing fees as well as newly generated fees. A summary of the updated fees is provided below for both trademarks and patents. Given the nature of some of these fees, acting prior to implementation of the new fee structure could lead to financial benefits. If further information is desired, please consider reaching out to legal counsel to discuss these changes and their potential impact on your IP portfolio in the United States.
